Chinese New Year Party

This year is the year of ¨snake¨.

Another Chinese New Year Party held in ¨Restaurante Chino Mandarin¨ in Calle Zabaleta.  The Snake is the sixth sign of the Chinese Zodiac, which consists of 12 Animal Signs. It is the enigmatic, intuitive, introspective, refined and collected of the Animals Signs. Ancient Chinese wisdom says a Snake in the house is a good omen because it means that your family will not starve. People born in the Year of the Snake are reputed to be thoughtful and wise and to approach problems rationally and logically, seldom instinctively.

There were 19 people in the party, mainly are our Chinese students, and also came some friends of them. Javier Lacunza also was invited to join us. As always, we started our dinner with ¨Ganbei¨! We had some typical New Year dishes, such as ¨jiaozi¨ (dumplings, which means riches), ¨miantiao¨ (noodles, which means long life), ¨niangao¨ (New Year cake, which means getting high every year) etc. After dinner, these four students who took ¨HSK¨ exam in 2012 got a small present which Wen brought back from China this Christmas.

Genoveva Becker Aldasoro, a lawyer, this is her second exam; she passed HSK Level 3 with 244 out of 300. Maria Jesus Amunarriz Uruñuela passed HSK Level 1 with 150 out of 200. Ianire Crespo Giga passed HSK Level 1 with 185 out of 200. Andoni Arrasate Inza passed HSK Level 1 with a full mark 200. Also we have Jennifer Hervas Martin passed HSK Level 1 and Laura Juan Buxo passed HSK Level 3; who didn´t come to the dinner, congratulation to all of them. Hope they will continue with the next level! Encouraged by them, some students are going to try the exam this summer.

In this course we started an intensive course with a group of students from Deusto university. After the course, they went to China for Erasmus in Shanghai, we also got their greetings from China.

From February we started a new group of beginner students. Also we will try to arrange some groups for preparing the exam in summer.
